About Square Fairways
We're excited and honored to bring a new business to the square in downtown Athens. This is really a dream come true for our families and we look forward to you enjoying your time with us at Square Fairways. It's very important that we maintain as much of the history and character of the building that our business calls home. You will definitely notice, and hopefully appreciate, some of the "character flaws" in the floors & ceilings. Just remember real golf courses aren't flat either, they've got bumps and slopes too. Also, just an FYI, our greens break towards Lake Athens (ha! ha!).
The incredible technology and innovation that allows us to play golf indoors, comfortably sits in a building that's over 150 years old. It truly is a mix of old & new. We know our grandparents, and great-grandparents, and great-great grandparents would be proud, and very curious, of what we've added to their town square.

The Browning Family
Doug, Jennifer, Clayton, and Tyler Browning moved to Athens 5 years ago, but roots in town run deep with Doug’s grandparents Joe and Virginia Browning, and cousinship to the Kinabrews. When the opportunity for the purchase of a downtown building came about, Doug and Jennifer knew they wanted to invest in the future of Athens in some way and thus began the formation of Square Fairways with an empty, historic building.
Doug and Jennifer grew up in North Dallas, but absolutely love Athens and the community of people. Clayton and Tyler are active in sports and church youth. Doug is involved in the community in lots of ways and is on the board at Athens Christian Preparatory Academy. Jennifer is extremely active in the community as well and is on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Athens, Caring for America, NAMI Greater Athens, and the committee for Athens Homeless Network.
The Brownings enjoy their family’s ranch in Athens and also taking trips in their RV. We look forward to welcoming you to Square Fairways and showing you around our fun business.
The Wood Family
When Jeff and Amy met nearly 25 years ago they untangled a long history of family connections in Athens - Amy, from the Browning/Kinabrew lineage, and Jeff from the Meredith/Calhoun crew. Athens had always been the homeland for both, and when they married in 2001, the combination of all the families cemented that fact even more. So, when the opportunity came up for the Brownings and Woods to start Square Fairways in the center of town, it felt like it naturally had to be done.
Jeff brings an almost-two decade long career in the golf industry to our business, and Amy's expertise in accounting and small business operations is incredibly valuable. You might see their two sons, Landon (a student at SFA) and Bryce (a high schooler) working at Square Fairways on the weekends, when they're not in school. The Woods are very proud of their family history in Athens, and are now able to strengthen those bonds to our small town with a spot on the courthouse square that has always meant so much to them.
The First Faces You See
We'd like to introduce you to Athena & Trinity, the goddesses of golf and fun (or at least that's who they are now). They are both on display in the beautiful stained glass of our front doors. We're not sure how long they've watched over the Athens square, but they will continue to do so while also delivering blessings of birdies and good times.
